Where's Crystal Been?

Gone!
It feels like I've deserted my family for the last week and a half. I went to Tucson for a wonderful educational conference that was by far one of the best conferences I've ever attended. Learned a lot about the newest technology to use in my classroom! Here's a picture that my colleague just had to take on the side of the road. That resort in the background was where they "wined and dined" us! It's amazing! All inclusive.
If you ever want to go there, my partner and I found our way around Tucson in a rental car and a small hotel map... let me just say, we saw some places more times than we wanted to and eventually we became very good at getting around! Which says something because neither one of us is really good at that type of driving. We are both used to being spoiled and "chauffered"!
Here's the view from some of the balconies there.

Some one had their wedding here the night before... bet that was a site- since straight out from the arbor is a view of all of Tucson!

I returned late Sun. night and got up early to start my short week of school since yesterday and today was Outdoor School for our 5th graders. Nothing like one lack-of-sleep event to another! It was fun though. You really get to know another side of the student when you get them out of those school walls! I wish I could post some of the pictures I took of the kids doing all kinds of crazy stuff... but unfortuately I can't.

Old cabins...
35 degree FAST moving water...
and my teaching buddy... Ann. It all adds up to a great first experience. Ann has had 20+ experiences at this! I don't know how she does it again and again with such love for these kids. She has really embraced me this year since I'm learning so much about teaching 5th graders! I don't think she was quite ready for this snapshot. HA!
I came back early today to see Morgan do the May Pole event. All 3rd graders did this. It's quite amazing to see in action and turns out so beautiful! She smiled when she saw me. She worried I wouldn't make it back in time from Outdoor School. Helps to bum an early ride from the principal! I've got connections... ;)

I feel like I miss out on so much when I haven't blogged! It doesn't mean I'm not keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!

I am glad that you are back home and maybe you can settle down for a few days now. Enjoy your weekend and those precious kids. Sounds like you had quite the experience with the 5th graders on the Outdoor Camp. Whole new ball game for you this year isn't it? Just know that you have my love and admiration always.
